Woodstock IV, day 1

Unfortunately the quality of the pictures of the whole Woodstock IV series is not as good as normally. I had my camera set unintentionally at ISO 3000 to 4000. With most cameras the pictures would have been totally worthless. The Nikon D70 created still somewhat usable images.

Anyway, Woodstock IV took place at the end of March 2011 at Nature's Way Nursery in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It is part of the international Bonsai Academy with Walter Pall.

On the first day the object was to learn what to do with very old and very large junipers at this time of the year. They were all Rocky Mountain Junipers, many hundreds of years old and of exceptional quality. The students learned hands on how to repot such monsters, when to do that and when not, how to do rough designs at an early stage. How to find the best position in a reasonable training pot. As one can see it was a lot of dirt an fun. the usual Harrisburg massacre.
