Around 60 hand-selected trees from Central Europe and Italy were shown. The event clearly has improved over last year again and by now is THE main event in Central Europe. The Dragon award is a significant trophy. The winner got 1,00 euro /1,500 US$) in cash. It was Enrico Savini from Switzerland with his world famous sabina juniper. The two runner-ups were Serge Clemence, Switzerland and Stefano Frisoni, Italy. My apple tree got one of the Dragon Awards. And it got a real lot of attention from the general public. Well, by some good luck the tree was ready with all the apples just for the show.(apple photograph with WP by Natalie Clemence)
Serge Clemence from Switzerland is clearly on of the bin names. he lives in the center of the country and has a very impressive bonsai garden. Here a few glimpses. Serge loves huge and powerful trees. his children go collecting with him and have also started to practice bonsai . Natalie and Edwin show their creations. Edwin shows the big larch that he found. Later some Italian friends came. Serge and Mauro Stemberger discussing some trees. And then the group with Evelyne Clemence, Mauro Stemberger and Serge. What a nice family! I had the luck to stay there for the bonsaiautumn 2009 weekend.
