I decided to cut off the upper branches right away. Less is more and they were too straight. On a trunk like this one shuould try to put a rather light crown.
Immediately I brushed off the bark with a steel brush on a Makita die grinder. It is important to have a die grinder with variable speed. The brushes want low speed, like 10,000 rpm. Then I edited some of the fresh deadwood, especially at the ends. The green was edited carefully. I left all the thick branches on but took off all foliage that seemed too much.
Then the thick branches were wired.
