The mighty ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa) (500 years plus) was brought one step further on day 3. A few branches were cut and edited. Then the branches were all wired and placed into position. As usually the ponderosa looks untidy after this styling. See the first image for a tidy ponderosa three years after styling. In summer there will be hundreds of buds bringing new growth. This tree is very dense and healthy due to the good watering and feeding regime (see WP substrate, watering and feeding).Who says that one cannot keep ponderosa and Rocky Mountain juniper happy long term on the East Coast? The crown will become somewhat wider within the next three to five years. The pot is slightly too large. It will be very difficult to get it into a smaller pot. We will report. The team was happy ans so am I.
BTW, what Jim Doyle is doing with the white powder is not what you think it is. He is making small bags of biotreecleaner for the participants to take with them.

Walter, as you can attest, photos fail to show how large and impressive these showcased trees truly are in person! Fortunately I can follow these trees monthly.

But of course! What else could he be doing? BTW, what did you think we'd thought he was doing?
